Adelaide’s premier destination for authentic Bhangra & Gidha. Experience the energy, rhythm, and community of Punjab brought to life right here in South Australia.
From humble beginnings to a thriving dance family in Adelaide.
Rooh Punjab Dee (RPD), meaning Soul of Punjab, was created from a simple idea: to keep our folk traditions alive for the next generation while living far from home. Founded in 2009 by passionate dancers who had performed at a high level in India, RPD began as a small group sharing Bhangra and Gidha at local community events. Over time, that small group has grown into a recognised academy in Adelaide, welcoming students of all ages and backgrounds.
Today, RPD is more than just a dance team. In every class, students learn the stories, rhythm and feeling behind each step – not only the choreography. Our coaches focus on discipline, respect and teamwork, while making sure everyone feels included and encouraged. From beginners taking their first class to advanced performers preparing for the stage, each dancer is supported to build confidence, stay active and stay connected to Punjabi culture.
Throughout the year, RPD students perform at cultural festivals, community events, competitions and special celebrations across South Australia. These performances give dancers real stage experience and create proud moments for families watching in the audience. Many of our students have grown up with RPD, forming lifelong friendships and memories that go far beyond the dance floor.
Our coaching team brings together experience, culture, energy, and care so every student feels supported, respected, and inspired to grow.

Having been part of RPD Academy from the very beginning, Anahat Sandhu has grown alongside the academy as both a dancer and mentor. With over seven years of Bhangra experience and nearly three years of teaching Giddha, she is known for bringing grace, energy, and expression to the stage through the girls she mentors.
After being a part of the RPD Bhangra Queens, Anahatjot now coaches and motivates the girls Bhangra class. She focuses on feminine strength, technique, synchronisation, and rhythm with her dancers. While being a perfectionist, Anahatjot is also proud of her culture and Punjabi identity, which she is ready to pass down to her Bhangra girls.
Eknoor has been a part of RPD for many years and has developed a strong passion for Bhangra and Giddha through Punjabi folk dance. Over time, she has built her skills, gained performance experience, and strengthened her connection to Punjabi culture. As a coach, she enjoys helping students build confidence, improve their technique, and develop a love for dance.
More than a dance academy, we are a community where culture, confidence, and connection grow together.
We regularly do performances, giving every student the chance to shine on stage and build confidence in front of an audience. These events help dancers gain real performance experience and create lifelong memories with their teams.
We make sure all students are on the right track by providing personal guidance and clear feedback. Our coaches help each dancer understand their strengths and areas to improve so they keep growing over time.
We ensure each student is happy to contribute to Bhangra and feel part of the group. Respect for every student is important to us, and we work hard to create a positive, welcoming environment for all ages and abilities.
It’s not just dance; it’s a lifestyle. Our classes support fitness, stamina, and coordination while keeping each session fun and energetic. Students stay active, healthy, and connected to their culture at the same time.
